Impact window prices in Fort Myers at a glance
Installed prices for the jobs we quote most, with the permit included. All figures are estimates for budgeting, drawn from Southwest Florida installers' published ranges and adjusted for Lee County's code requirements. They are not a quote: the written price you get after we measure is the number that counts.
| Job | Estimate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Single-hung impact window, standard bedroom size | $1,100–$1,900 each | About 37 × 63 in, white aluminum or vinyl frame, clear laminated glass |
| Horizontal roller | $1,300–$2,400 each | Two-lite slider, 4 to 6 ft wide, the usual kitchen and bedroom size |

| Sliding glass door, 4 panels (about 16 ft) | $8,500–$14,000 | Includes a center meet; pocket doors priced on measure |
| Impact front door, single | $3,000–$6,500 | Fiberglass or aluminum slab, frame and hardware |
| Front door with one or two sidelights | $5,500–$10,000 | Sidelights glazed with laminated glass |
| French doors, pair | $5,000–$9,000 | Out-swing pair with a center astragal |
Whole-house projects
Most owners replace everything at once, because one permit, one mobilization and one inspection cost less than three. Ordering every opening together also gets the full wind mitigation credit in one step.
| Job | Estimate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Small home, 8 to 12 windows | $12,000–$24,000 | Mostly single-hung, one bathroom obscure glass |
| Typical block home, 15 to 20 openings plus a slider | $24,000–$48,000 | The project we quote most often |
| Large or waterfront home, 25+ openings | $45,000–$95,000 | Tall glass, multi-panel sliders, higher design pressures |
Cost per square foot
As a comparison aid, standard impact windows in Fort Myers come out at roughly $55 to $100 per square foot of opening, and large fixed glass toward the lower end of that per foot because the frame is a smaller share of the cost. Sliders run about $45 to $75 per square foot of door. We price by the opening, not the foot, but the figure helps when comparing quotes for different mixes of sizes.
What moves the price on a Lee County home
Design pressure
Every opening is rated for the positive and negative wind pressure its wall can see. A bedroom window on an inland ranch in Gateway may need a modest rating; the same size on the third floor of a Fort Myers Beach house facing open water needs a much stiffer frame and thicker glass. Higher pressure ratings cost more, and they are not optional.
Frame material
Vinyl is usually the lower-cost option on standard sizes. Aluminum costs more but is required in practice for big openings and is the better choice near salt water.
Glass package
Plain laminated glass is the base price. Low-E, tint, insulated laminated glass and obscure glass each add to it, and insulated laminated is the biggest step up.
The opening itself
Block homes from the 1960s to the 1980s are straightforward. Frame homes, second-floor openings that need a lift, rotten wood bucks and openings being resized all add labor.
Add-ons we price separately
So nothing in the quote looks hidden, these items appear as their own lines when your home needs them.
| Job | Estimate | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Low-E coating | $80–$220 per window | Cuts solar heat through west and south glass |
| Gray or bronze tint | $60–$180 per window | Glare and privacy |
| Removing old storm panels or accordion shutters | $75–$175 per opening | Track removal and patching of anchor holes |
| Stucco and drywall return repair | $150–$450 per opening | Where the old frame was wider than the new one |
| Grids between the glass | $90–$250 per window | Colonial or prairie patterns |
Why two Fort Myers quotes can be $10,000 apart
We see it every week: two quotes for the same house that look wildly different. Almost always one of them is missing something. The usual gaps are a lower design pressure than the wall needs, vinyl quoted where aluminum was specified elsewhere, the permit or stucco repair left as an extra, or a product approved only for lower-exposure homes being offered for a house near the water. Before comparing totals, line the quotes up by those five items. The difference usually shrinks, and sometimes the cheap quote turns out to be for a different job.
The other gap is timing. After a storm season, demand and lead times rise across Southwest Florida, and some installers price that in. A quote held for 30 days in March can look different from one written in October.
These prices are estimates for Fort Myers homes and will change with sizes, product availability and code requirements. Your written quote after the free measure is the only firm price.
Prices in nearby towns
The ranges above hold across Lee County, with two adjustments. Homes on the barrier islands usually need higher design pressures and corrosion-resistant hardware, and some communities add an association approval step. See the pages for Fort Myers Beach, Cape Coral and Bonita Springs, or read about window replacement and impact doors.
Cost questions
Why won't anyone give me a price over the phone?
Because the two biggest cost drivers, the exact size of each opening and the design pressure for your wall, only come from a tape measure and the house's exposure. A per-window phone price is either padded or revised later.
Is a cheaper quote for the same number of windows a better deal?
Only if it is for the same thing. Compare frame material, glass type, the design pressure rating, whether the permit and stucco repair are included, and whether the product is approved for your exposure. Those five lines explain most of the gap between two Fort Myers quotes.
Do impact windows pay for themselves through insurance?
Partly, for some owners. The wind mitigation credit for opening protection can be significant on a policy with a large windstorm portion, but it varies by carrier. Ask your agent to price the change before you count on a number.
Is there financing or grant money?
Many owners use a home improvement loan or manufacturer financing. The state's My Safe Florida Home grants have covered impact windows for eligible homesteaded houses, but funding opens and closes, so check the program's current status before planning around it.
Does the price include the permit?
Ours does. The permit fee, the inspection visit and the paperwork for your insurer are in the written quote, not added afterwards.
